It all started with a Common Loon.

In December 2025, we received a call about a Common Loon tangled in fishing line, bobbing helplessly a few hundred yards offshore. She was clearly trapped and struggling. The water was freezing, and she was too far out for our team to safely reach.

Then a local surfer took one look at the situation, slipped into his wetsuit, and paddled out to help.

Thanks to his quick action, we were able to bring her into care. After a few weeks of rehabilitation, her soft tissue injuries healed beautifully, and she was released back into the ocean, right where she belongs.

That rescue inspired something bigger. Our Surf & Rescue Team was born.

It takes a village to save wildlife—and sometimes, that village needs a wetsuit.
